CSE History

The story of Common Sense Events begins with Jonathan and Julianna, picking up shifts with a local catering company and realizing, there aren’t that many great staffing options in the hospitality industry.

After spending 8 years solving that problem and growing their company to hundreds of team members and staffing large events including Comic Con, Stagecoach, and Coachella, it was time, to shift their attention to serving venues.

Having worked at hundreds of venues across California, they were no stranger to the needs of venues and since 2018 have worked with venues of all sizes and at all stages of growth.

Meet Jonathan

In 2018, Common Sense Events Inc. (CSE) started managing one wedding venue in their local San Diego market. After the initial impact of COVID was felt, and looking for a way to expand how they served the industry, CSE’s staffing operations were acquired by a national staffing firm, and CSE Inc. pivoted to provide full scale wedding/event venue management services. Within the first 9 months, they quickly grew to managing 5 venues throughout San Diego County and continue to grow today.

Jonathan is also the founder and host of The Venue Rx podcast, a YouTube channel and podcast dedicated to educating wedding and event professionals around the world by providing a weekly prescription of tips, tools, tactics, and inspiration to start or grow wedding and events businesses.

Our Partners

CSE is proudly partnered with Event Helper to offer low-cost event insurance with superior coverage for all of our clients. Each time clients book their insurance through our partner link, we donate 100% of our partner commission to our favorite local organization: Got Your Back San Diego. For every partner commission donated, we also make a 1:1 matching contribution from our company, doubling the impact we are able to make in the community.

Got Your Back San Diego is a non-profit that provides a weekend food assistance program for children who attend San Diego County schools, whose main source of nutrition is cafeteria food Monday through Friday but, apart from school, lack a reliable food source on Saturday and Sunday. Every week, volunteers fill backpacks with enough food to sustain each child throughout the weekend. Each $30 donation ensures that a child will have 6 nutritious meals every weekend for an entire month. With the way we’ve set up our partner commission donations with Event Helper, we are able to feed 1 child for an entire month for every wedding that we book, and also each time one of our events gets insured.

“I’ve worked at Common Sense Events for the past four years and can confidently say I’ve never had a negative experience. My fellow coworkers at CSE have always been positive and hard working.”
