The Financial Controller will work directly with the CEO and COO. This role is best suited for someone who is detail-oriented, experienced with QuickBooks Online, comfortable managing multiple financial systems, and able to work independently. The ideal candidate will bring structure, accuracy, and consistency to all areas of our financial operations.

Why We Are Hiring This Role Now
Scaling Operations & Complexity
CSE is growing, and with that growth comes more financial activity—contracts, vendor payments, payroll, project budgets, and tax implications. We need a dedicated financial leader to bring clarity, oversight, and strategy as your operations become more complex.
Need for Strategic Financial Planning
We are aiming to make data-driven decisions, plan for expansion, and optimize cash flow. A controller can help with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling, enabling our team to make smarter investments.
Freeing Up Leadership Time
As a founder, my time is better spent on vision, partnerships, and culture, not reconciling accounts and chasing invoices. Hiring a controller will allow me and my wife to delegate and elevate.
Preparing for Future Fundraising, Loans, or Partnerships
As we think about new venues, or engaging in strategic partnerships, having clean books and reliable financial reporting is essential.
Elevating Accountability & Internal Controls
As our team grows, so does the importance of accountability. We expect this controller will put proper systems and internal controls in place to prevent errors, fraud, or compliance risks.

You have 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, financial management, or controlling roles
You are confident and experienced in QuickBooks Online, Google Sheets, and general financial systems
You’re financially sharp and operationally minded—you don’t just track numbers, you use them to improve how the business runs
You’re a proactive problem-solver who sees around corners, anticipates issues, and builds smart solutions
You are detail-oriented, consistent, and hold a high bar for accuracy, timeliness, and integrity
You’ve worked in growing businesses (especially service- or event-based) and understand how to create structure amid scale
You enjoy both strategy and execution—able to forecast budgets and reconcile bank statements in the same day
You’re independent, self-managed, and communicate clearly with leadership and cross-functional teams
You can explain financial data to non-financial people without making it confusing or overwhelming
You care about being part of a mission-driven business that values honesty, clarity, and doing meaningful work in its community
Who We’re Looking For (Personality & Work Style)
The right person for this role is organized, steady, and detail-driven—someone who finds satisfaction in clean books, clear reports, and well-run systems. You likely prefer working independently, enjoy bringing structure to complex environments, and feel confident managing financial tasks from start to finish.
You don’t need to be the loudest voice in the room—you just need to be sharp, proactive, and trustworthy.
While we don’t hire based on personality profiles, we’ve seen certain traits and tendencies lead to long-term success in this role. If you’ve taken any of the common assessments, you might recognize yourself here:
On Predictive Index (PI), you might show up as an Analyzer or Controller—methodical, systems-focused, and careful with the details.
On 16 Personalities, you might be an ISTJ, INTJ, or ISTP—focused, practical, and independent.
On the Enneagram, you might identify as a Type 1 (Reformer) or Type 5 (Investigator)—motivated by precision, integrity, and clarity.
We care more about how you show up and own your work than how you test—but if these descriptions resonate with you, there’s a good chance you’ll thrive here.
